国际微电子

Group Enterprise

IMEC is an International Microelectronics Corporation group. Collectively IMEC manages and operates a large-scale industrial initiative of microelectronics design-manufacturing integration (IDM). IMEC commissioned to proceed in modern and trendy fields of cross-generation consumer, professional and industrial electronics products. IMEC targets to build out an international frontier industry with its own technological resources and a strong financial sponsorship. Its three main business sectors are: LED Lighting, OLED Display and ASSP IC. IMEC industries are all invested by the one international investment group: JGroup.

The Parent

IMEC’s parent, JGroup, is headquartered in Beijing, operated from Hong Kong, handling financial administration of dedicated investments upon IMEC subsidiary businesses and activities. Consulting companies in Hong Kong are established to represent interests of International Investor Group, International Engineering Team and a Reserve Fund Institute. Further these Hong Kong entities entered joint ventures with JGroup’s own China domestic business initiatives as IMEC’s provincial project enterprises.

IMEC’s Industrial Initiatives in 3 Business Sectors

LED Lighting

Light Emitting Diode devices as a light source. It is a special category of semiconductor process technologies that is dedicated to massively produce LED devices as key components in Lighting applications. LED Lighting in applications save energies and don’t emit heats as conventional tungsten-based light source (such as a light bulb).

OLED Display

Organic Light Emitting Display as a pixel component to form an arrayed display panel. Tt is a special category of semiconductor process technologies that is dedicated to massively produce flat panels of OLED Display products. OLED features high-speed display, all-angle view, all-weather proof operation, viewable in high-light condition, energy-saving, and support creation of thiner, flexible and touchscreen integrated ergonomic panel displays. OLED Display emits colored lights from on-pixel LED, In contract to LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) which is a passive display thus needed backlit and color filter.

ASSP IC

Application Specific Standard Parts is an SoC (System on Chip) Integrated Circuit component on which a digital processing architecture optimized for one specific category of algorithms, optimized for performance of a specific computing applications. ASSP products are widely used in consumer, professional and industrial markets, and are expending into wider and massive uses of embedded sensor signal processing. Without high-performance ASSP, many data processing designers elect non-standard and non-programmable ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) approaches, trading off design cost, design cycle and product-life.

IMEC’s IDM Industrial Business Model

Integrated Design and Manufacturing is mostly a model for a greater semiconductor industry at greater effort investing both IC designs and IC manufacturing. In contrast, a pair of segmented business models separate the business into two: Fabless IC product companies who are pure designer and Silicon Foundries who are pure manufacturer. Among top semiconductors most are IDM businesses, with few fabless and foundries (1 of each in the World Top-10). IMEC R&D Center in Beijing administrate and host advanced research and designs.

IMEC R&D Center

Following JGroup’s project-oriented strategic investment and IMEC project agenda, gathering international design talents, China academic groups and a set of domestic engineering teams, the Center is "vertical axis" structure of IMEC’s technological infrastructure, supporting from top the frontier technological interests, down to bottom the manufacturing technologies in various business sectors and subsectors.

IMEC International Operation

All international businesses and activities are centralized and administrated by a US entity, IMEC USA LLC. It operates from New York City and Los Angeles. It administrates IMEC’s world representative offices, started in Shanghai, Los Angeles, Taipei and a to-be-determined Japan city.

IMEC Provincial Manufacturing Projects

Nanjing OLED Display

An integrated team of world process technology experts has completed site property approval and procurement plan of the OLED 3.5G Display Panel fab equipments, for IMEC’s first manufacturing facility in Nanjing. In Nanjing OLED 3.5G Display, the engineering team is going to be progressively built up, paced with progresses of the facility’s construction and installation. It is expected that the facility’s construction and installation is to be completed within 2012.

Nanjing, Taizhou, Tai’an

Nanjing LED Lighting, Taizhou Touchscreen Module, Tai’an OLED Display Module are three provincial projects to be started in 2011-2012. According current plans, these facilities construction and installation is lightly behind but following the pace of Nanjing OLED 3.5G Display project, for benefitting experiences accumulated and model operation established in the first site project.

Binzhou

Binzhou OLED 5.5G Display project will be on first phase achieving its local infrastructure build out and a greater building-block construction. Binzhou project is in a much greater dimension in many aspects. It also need to be paced with the procurement and delivery of manufacturing equipments, for OLED’s 5.5G process technology has yet in R&D stage by world leading manufacturing equipment vendors.

Participating IMEC Industrial Initiative

in 2008, Jin Luo and his XHM (now a current FTC portfolio business) colleagues was a provincial project candidate for the group corporation’s plan of ASSP IC and nm CMOS wafer manufacture. Since end of 2010, Jin Luo advises JGroup and participated IMEC’s project planning, R&D strategy and international business establishment. Jin Luo is appointed as IMEC’s Project Director.
